Expressions of Phenomenological Research: Consciousness and Lifeworld Studies (Fielding Monograph Series) (Volume 10)
Edited by David Rehorick & Valerie Bentz
Santa Barbara, California: Fielding University Press, 2017.
This edited collection expands scholarly discussion as to what counts as legitimate phenomenological inquiry and showcases the unique way that phenomenology has been taught at the Fielding Graduate University. Graduate scholar-practitioners demonstrate the applicability of phenomenology and hermeneutics for their professional practice and personal lives. Topics explored include executive coaching, the lifeworld of Nelson Mandela, women as sustainability entrepreneurs, patients’ experience of heart attack, a remote worker’s sense of place, the meaning of servant leadership, collaborative relationships among musicians, and socially innovative community projects for citizens in need.

Transformative Phenomenology: Changing Ourselves, Lifeworlds, and Professional Practice
Edited by David Rehorick & Valerie Bentz
Lanham, Maryland: Lexington Books, 2008 (paperback 2009).
Transformative Phenomenology springs from our long-term research, writing, and teaching in the domain of interpretive inquiry, with emphasis on phenomenology and hermeneutics. We introduce the practice and techniques of phenomenological inquiry in a manner that does not require in-depth understanding of the phenomenological movement. Contributing authors display the efficacy of phenomenology to better understand their lifeworld experiences. This collection of thirteen chapters combines contributions from seasoned, university-based scholars and scholar-practitioners who completed their doctoral education in later life, thus blending their workplace experiences with their intellectual interests.
